For booking consideration contact Tim Hall at Tim@JaxLive.com. If you don't have an email address, seriously consider getting one. You can also call the club at 904-398-7496. Be prepared for my voicemail, lengthy holds and occasional busy signals. My track record at returning unsolicited voicemails is spotty. However, I reliably return ALL eMails.

Things to know BEFORE you contact me:

Who/What: Describe your band's sound and style. I do realize that your band is extremely original and extraordinarily distinctive. In fact, your music is a unique blend and/or fresh interpretation unlike anything that's ever been heard before. That said, it would be helpful to have some idea your bands' genres, schools and/or influences. One helpful approach is to consider which national acts you would most like to open for.

Why: Send a BRIEF bio, a sample of your band's ORIGINAL music and some sort of band picture. The photo does not need to be a glossy photo -- black and white, a photocopy, a polaroid, etc. It does need to be of the people in your band. (The pictures of the bulldog playing pokers and such are cute but not really relevant.) Contact me about two weeks after you send it to me.

When: Know the dates that you can play BEFORE you call me. Time slots fill up fast. Just because I tell you a slot is available does not mean it will still be available when you come back to me three days later with the news that your band can play. On the other hand, never CONFIRM a date unless you're sure your band can play. Bands that cancel a confirmed date are less likely to get a new one -- especially for something like finding out a week before the show that the drummer's aunt's wedding is that night.

Where: Provide at least one RELIABLE way to contact you -- two is better. Though I prefer eMail, there are situations (particularly on the day of the show) when a phone number would be more helpful. I will not call you unless necessary and will not share your contact information with anyone.

If you eMail me, you can use links and/or attachments. Please keep in mind that technology is not my friend. I am old and learned to type on an actual typewriter. If your website requires an advanced degree to view or your music is encoded in some beautiful new format, your chances of playing for me just got slimmer.

If you want to mail a package to me, please make sure that your band name and contact info are ON the disc-- not attached to the disc, not on the CD holder --but ON THE DISC. Then mail your package to:

For What It's Worth:

Choose your indulgence with care.

For example- Laminate your bio . . . Include posters, stickers, T-shirts and such in your package . . . Put your package in clear-view folders, sheet protectors and fancy folders . . . Mail your package to the club address instead of my mailing address . . . Leave your contact information off of everything but the beautiful glossy folder you send your package in . . . These are just a few of the ways you can spend money that have absolutely NO impact on whether you get a show or not. In fact, some of them even HURT your chances. On the other hand, burning CD samplers to give out at your show, saving for tour support (showers and food become luxury items for touring bands without any funds) and printing up flyers to promote your show can do a lot towards building your band. The choice is yours.

My out-of-town band is playing for you. I need to have merch, specialty guitar strings, clean socks etc. sent to me. Where should I have this stuff sent?

Do NOT have the stuff sent to the venue you're playing. Contact me to make arrangements. Usually it's best to send it to my mailing address. But even then I need to know it's coming. My mailing address closes at 5:00 p.m. If load in is at 7:00 p.m. and you first ask for your package then, it will be too late.
